Submissions for 2026

ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Abstract submissions should align with the theme of paleontology of the Late Cretaceous North Atlantic Coastal Plain but may also cover other relevant geological topics (mining history in the coastal plain, origin of the Bone Wars, preparation of coastal plain fossils, etc.). We ask the author to indicate if they would like to be considered for an oral presentation.

Submission Details:

  • Email hamiltonscudder@gmail.com with a title and general idea for the presentation and paper proposed by June 15th, 2026
  • Paper Deadline: July 31st, 2026; Slides Deadline: October 1st, 2026
    • Papers should be limited to 20 pages. For large datasets or method sections, accommodations can be made for open online supplemental access.
    • Submit to: hamiltonscudder@gmail.com
    • Format: MS Word, single-spaced, 11-point Times New Roman.
      • Include title, abstract, and references following Geological Society of America Bulletin style.

Posters

Students of the NJ, NY and PA area are highly encouraged to present posters which can be any topic of interest. Awards for student posters will be decided by the conference committee and presented at the conference. Please provide abstracts by September 15th for publication in the conference guidebook; posters can be offered without published abstract at a later submission date at the discretion of the executive board.

Paleo Artwork

Paleo-artists of the NJ, NY, and PA area are highly encouraged to submit reconstructions of ancient organisms and environments for presentation and publication at this year’s conference and guidebook.

There will be one submission category for paleo-reconstructions of any time and place, and one for reconstructions of/in the Late Cretaceous North Atlantic Coastal Plain. They will be judged by a panel of three GANJ board members and the best five works in each category will be selected for presentation and publication. Each work must be submitted with a one-page description justifying the physiology, behavior, setting, ecosystem, and compositional choices presented, as well as a full faunal list and floral list, if applicable, and one page for references of any studies justifying artistic depictions.

Format: Artwork – JPEG or PNG image; Supporting document – MS Word 2-page, single spaced document, 11-point Arial or Times New Roman.
