About Us
Who We Are
Established in 1984, the Geological Association of New Jersey (GANJ) has dedicated itself to advancing the understanding and appreciation of geology in our state. Through annual meetings, meticulously prepared field guides, and engaging geologic field trips, we aim to disseminate crucial earth science knowledge. As a strictly volunteer-run, non-profit organization, our success reflects the commitment of our members who come from educational, research, governmental, and industrial backgrounds. GANJ plays a pivotal role in the dynamic field of earth sciences in New Jersey, continually adapting to the evolving roles of our members, including geologists and environmental scientists.
What We Can Offer
At GANJ, we offer invaluable resources and opportunities for both educational and professional growth. Our conferences and field trips serve as low-cost, high-impact educational tools for professors and students alike, providing access to local and regional geological sites and research. We foster a strong community where networking and professional development are encouraged through participation in various roles, whether as part of the executive board or as a contributor to our organizational tasks like website management and database maintenance. Our members enjoy the privilege of presenting their research and gaining professional feedback, enriching both their knowledge and career prospects.
